APPLY FOR A GRANT

Since 1998, Women’s Fund of Greater La Crosse has given nearly $1 million to programs and projects that enrich the lives of women and girls.

WHAT WE FUND
We are committed to creating an inclusive and equitable life for all women and girls so they can do the same for others. We fund programs that address women’s and girls’ current and critical needs and enrich their lives.

WHO WE FUND
We invite Registered 501(c)3 organizations, public agencies (like health departments or school districts) or special projects with a fiscal sponsor relationship with a 501(c)3 organization to apply.

The program or project must provide opportunities or meet the needs of women and girls in La Crosse, Monroe, or Trempealeau Counties in Wisconsin and Houston County in Minnesota.

Preference is given to programs that have a direct impact on or that serve mostly women and girls.

We do not fund individuals, for-profit businesses, lobbying efforts, annual campaigns, debt retirement, gift campaigns, or major capital expenses.

AREAS OF IMPACT FOR 2024
We know that real, long-lasting change happens when there is a focus on existing barriers to self-sufficiency.

Education, Transportation, and Housing are three areas of emphasis for our grantmaking in 2024. Safe, affordable, and uncomplicated access to education, transportation, and housing can create pathways to economic independence and self-sufficiency for women and girls.

TYPES OF GRANTS AVAILABLE
Annual Grants

This is our regular, annual competitive grant program. We prioritize innovative projects and programs committed to creating long-lasting change and are led by or inspired by women and girls.

Funding decisions are made by the end of June, and funds are distributed by the end of July. We consider grant requests of $1,500 – $15,000. Grants of $1,500 or less are eligible to apply for a mini-grant.

Registered 501(c)3 organizations, public agencies (like the health departments or school districts) or special projects with a fiscal sponsor relationship with a 501(c)3 organization are invited to apply.

We encourage you to be as clear and thorough as possible in writing your application. You are invited to take advantage of opportunities to work with Women’s Fund as you develop your request before the May 1 deadline.

If you’d like to learn more about our annual competitive grant process and how to apply, please email sarah@womensfundlacrosse.org.

Mini-Grants
Available to nonprofit organizations or special projects with a fiscal sponsor relationship with a nonprofit, this limited grant program is available for requests of $1,500 or less and whose timeline may not align with our annual grant process.

If you are a registered 501(c)3 organization, public agency (like health departments or school districts) or special projects with a fiscal sponsor relationship with a 501(c)3, please email sarah@womensfundlacrosse.org to learn more.

Applications are open throughout the year and are reviewed at monthly board meetings.

We do not provide funding to individuals, for-profit businesses, lobbying efforts, annual campaigns, debt retirement, gift campaigns, or major capital expenses.
